Chandigarh : Amit Sareen, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Hoshiarpur, who was summoned by the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana to appear before its Privilege Committee on September 15 after a complaint was filed against him by District Bar Association, Hoshiarpur, will now submit a written reply instead of appearing in person.
According to sources in the administration that the Bar Council doesn’t have the authority to summon the SDM and by asking him to appear in person, the Bar Council is overstepping its authority.
“The SDM will submit a written reply to the notice issued to him by the Bar Council and that will be it. He will not appear in person before the council’s Privilege Committee,” said a source.
The SDM has been accused of behaving in a rude and arrogant way with advocates in his court and as a result District Bar Association, Hoshiarpur, filed a complaint against him.
